Grandma + Grandpa Camp

Quite a few months ago we had planned to go camping north of Sundance with Grandpa Doug and Grandma Robin. We like that area because it’s kinda in the middle for both of us and we can enjoy riding the trails together.

And then we experienced life on God’s terms and the unexpected happened while Brian and Mary were on their week long motorcycle ride to see the Redwoods in California. After that, it was clear we were probably not going to be camping much more this year.

With Brian tending to maters in Idaho, my dad called and offered to still take the kids camping. Because it was going to be so hot though they decided to head for the Big Horns. So I took the kids over on Sunday and stayed the night. The next morning Grandma, Grandpa, Ellie, Jackson and Buck all headed out to camp as the dogs and I headed back home for a week of tackling things around the house.

When I picked them back up the following weekend everyone looked like they had camped for a week. But the memories and stories were great. They rode side-by-side, played with Buck, got the paddle boards out, shot bb guns, laid in the hammocks, roasted marshmallows, and to this day Ellie is still raving about Grandma Robin’s camp ribs and how she outshot Grandpa with the bb gun.

It was a blessing to know that the kids were taken care of and having fun while Brian was away and I was processing the recent devastation. Looking back I probably should have gone with to take in the peace of the mountains but I was able to clear my task list and be more present with the kids when we got home.
