Super Mario Birthday Party
It came time for Jackson to choose the birthday theme again this year. He was torn between having a party at the virtual reality place or a gathering at home. Brian had taken him to a few VR sessions so it was rather appealing but when he talked to Ellie, she convinced him that it might be more fun to have a big party at home, you know “the fun ones that Mom goes all out on”. So I could not disappoint and we went all out once again.
Power Up for the Party Details
The theme Jackson picked was Super Mario Bros. They had been playing Mario Bros on the retro Nintendo we got them a last year. We had also recently went on a date night to the movies to see the release of the Super Mario Bros. movie, which was way cool and a great inspiration.
Again after browsing the Pinterest, we settled on mushroom cupcakes and then wanted the yellow power up boxes as cake pops. And because Ellie was perfecting her art of the macron, she made a double batch of Princess Peach pink macrons…..all were delicious and well received.
For fun we planned on entertaining our large group of guests with a few simple games. We started with and oldie, but goodie and pinned the mustache on Mario. And then after everyone was sugared up with cakes and treats, we sent them outside for an epic, 2-yard, 4-totes full of water balloons war. We started with a few water balloon games but it didn’t take long before all kiddos had their hands wet, and more, while launching bombs at each other. It was a fun memory and we are happy the weather worked out in our favor.
After the water balloon fight, we finalized the party with a delicious shaved ice, courtesy of SnoDak Shaved Ice. These were a hit will all party goers, both young and old. We even continued to eat shaved ice well after the party was over. And then on the way out the door, friends received a retro NES controller chocolate bar
It is hard to believe we officially have a teenager on our hands and that Jackson isn’t far behind her. Some days they are just irritate each other like a healthy brother and sister relationship should. We consider ourselves blessed to be their parents and are just trying our best to hold on to these sweet memories.
