Summer Fun Camps 2021

There were quite a few fun things that happened this summer that we’d like to make write down in our memory vault.

Jujitsu for Ellie

Ellie has been doing Jujitsu since September as her yearly activity. They meet twice a week with a practice that includes a warm up, learning techniques and then some fun skill based games. After she got over the initial toughness of the wrestling part, she surprisingly enjoys it and is rather good at muscling her way out of a situation……which is why we signed up our young girl for this type of physical activity. In one of their fun grappling games, she was the last one on the mat and was awarded a traveling medal. We are very happy to have seen her confidence soar, especially in those uncomfortable situations, but with middle school on the horizon, she is wanting to try another activity. Keep scrolling to find out which one.

Running Club for Jackson

Don’t look back Jackson, you’re not going that way!

Jackson still has a hidden love for running so we signed him up for the kids running club. They meet once a week in June which is just enough for him to get a feel for the sport.

Church Camp for Ellie

All the kids from church heading off to Kid’s Camp.
Big hugs after a week of being gone.

This was Ellie’s last year for Kid’s Camp through the church. She has enjoyed going to these and wanted to go again. Next year she will be going on to Mid-High Camp.

Coding Camp for Jackson

This camp was right up his alley
See….and then you transfer it here, and then….

While Ellie was at Church Summer Camp, we found Jackson a Lego Robotics Coding Camp. He learned how to code on the computer, transfer the code to the robotics and built a battle bot. As you can see from the pictures he really enjoyed showing us what each piece of code was doing, all of which he understood more than we did. At the end of the week, parents were invited to come and watch the battle bots in a fit to the finish match.

Summer Cheer for Ellie

I’m not really sure where the interest in cheer came from but there’s a camp for that. Actually I didn’t realize I had missed the week-long camp and signed her up for a weekly class all summer, but Ellie had a fun time either way. At the end of the summer they did their little performance for parents to see. I could see her enjoying the sport of cheer.

Don’t Forget About Dirt Bike Days

Over the summer we snuck in a few day trips to Farmingdale for some Dirt Bike practice. Over all with the camping trips, these two are liking the freedom of riding a motorcycle.
