Lefse Weekend 2020

Even the pandemic couldn’t keep us from throwing flour around this year. It has been a few years since we rolled the ol’ dough so when fall came around with the new freedoms of homeschooling we thought — why not? Why not invite ourselves to a lefse day that we had never been to before? And the Bickett Academy Fall Family Heritage Field Trip was now a thing! It didn’t take long to confirm our accommodations and activities with the host.

Checking the rolling pin.
We forgot our aprons.

By the end of the day we had rolled seven, yes 7, batches of lefse. It was a great delight to roll lefse at Darcy’s this year and being on my Grandmother’s birthday was even more of a treat. I am sure she was smiling down as we carried on her tradition.

Everyone on the day after lefse day — tired and under a blanket of flour.

Thanksgiving A Little Early

Since we were there for the weekend we found time to visit some of the greats! With the loss of Auntie Irene and Auntie Pat’s recent trips to the hospital this year, we really felt like we should pop out for a quick visit and squeeze Auntie Pat and Uncle Gayland while we were up north. We did hug briefly, but then put the distance between us as we visited and didn’t stay too long. It is so good to see them doing well amidst all of the chaos recently.

Always great to see the GREATS!

And what goes best with fresh lefse? Why a Thankgiving feast of course! Mark and Stephanie were cooking a wonderful meal while we went to Towner. We even got to use the fancy china.

Gathered round the table!

Ellie got to drink from the prettiest tea cup.
