First Day of School 2019

We were wise enough this year to come back from our long camp a few days prior to the first day of school but the day still seemed to sneak up on us. Ellie and Jackson had their bags packed and their outfits picked out and were very excited to head back to school.

First Day of Fourth Grade

Ellie sporting shorter hair and a beautiful smile heading into 4th Grade.
Slightly nervous about finding her line.

Even though we were intentional about being home from vacation in time to make it to meet the teacher night, we missed it. This mom misread the time and we showed up after it was already over. And since the school decided to rotate teachers in fourth grade this year, missing the night to learn about it more added a little worry to Ellie’s plate, mostly because she didn’t know where to line up on the first day. Once she was pointed in the right direction, she was all smiles when I picked her up and happy to report that it was the best first day ever. It sort of feels like 4th and 5th grades are the new prep for junior high but we are excited to see how much Ellie grows this year, including adding the Viola and Orchestra to the list.

First Day of Third Year of Pre-K

Jackson is ready to go.
They always have such a cute photo booth at St. Paul’s.

Starting the third year of preschool was old news for Jackson. He was able to walk right in, put his things away, sign in and was ready to hit the toys, hardly without a goodbye. He was still pretty certain he should be a non-napper this year which I was glad to hear his teachers thought might not happen til mid year. Since we chose another year of preschool it means that he is definitely headed to kindergarten next year. It will be a bit of a transition but we think he will be more than ready for it.

Mom’s First Day Back at School

Grabbing a nice breakfast and coffee while the morning chill wears off.
Just two Moms, their bikes and a sky full of sunshine.

What are moms suppose to do with the whole day of sunshine to ourselves? Why go for a bike ride of course! It turns out there is just enough time between school drop off and pick up to grab a coffee and breakfast then ride to Deadwood for lunch. It was such a nice day and I am so thankful to have a great friend to celebrate the first day of school with.
