We Are Spartans! 2019

Earlier in 2019 Brian was looking for some sort of race or a fitness goal to work towards. He had success in staying active and fit by training for 5ks but wasn’t certain that a longer running race was what he was looking for. So it seemed fitting when a friend invited him to join a team for a Spartan Obstacle Course Race at Ft. Carson, Colorado. It was determined that the more the merrier, so the wives and a few other friends joined the team. As the July 13th race date approached we were not quite sure what to expect but we made sure to train for a couple obstacles like the Spear Throw and the Rope Climb, not to mention the running and burpies.

We figured we completed the 4 mile and 20 obstacle Spartan Sprint race in about three hours. We had to do quite a few burpies along the way for the obstacles we couldn’t get through and we were very glad to have teammates to help push us along, sometime quite literally. Although there was quite a big fall from the Monkey Bars, as you can see from the race photos above it was a lot of fun and very rewarding. Enough so that we think another Spartan Race will be on our 2020 bucket list. Full race results and photos can be found here
