First Day of School 2018
We had a little bit of a sling shot back-to-school action this year after coming off of a week long camping trip last week but the kids were excited to go back to school none the less. I was also sure we were prepared by making sure we had school shopping done before we left.
Since they both started on the same day this year, we celebrated the last day of summer break with a movie and a visit to the park. Jackson didn’t get a nap so he was out like a light, but it was Ellie that was “too excited to sleep”. It is a blessing to know that they look forward to and enjoy their first days of school.
First Day of Third Grade
We missed meet the teacher night while were on vacation but were so thankful to the school that we were able to sneak in a few days before school to see her classroom, drop off the loads of supplies, and visit with her new teacher. Ellie left with feelings of joy and little sadness that her friends were in a different classroom. She had great reviews of her first day back saying things like “my teacher is super nice” and “it was an AWESOME day”. It is going to be fun to guide her through this year and watch her understanding and knowledge grow.
First Day of Second Year of Pre-School
Even though it wasn’t much of a change, Jackson was also excited to go back to school. He was really looking forward to the new friends he might meet and the new toys he might get to play with. What he was most “scared of” was having to take a nap, which I am crossing my fingers doesn’t get phased out too early this year. When I picked him up he was excited to show me the book he was reading and that they had bear crackers for snack — he liked the chocolate ones best. We haven’t decided if he will be doing another year of preschool after this or heading to kindergarten next fall. We do know however, that his mind is amazing and we love watching it work in ways that make sense to him.
What About Activities
As of now, we like to guard our kiddos “free” time and allow them to do only one activity at a time. This year Ellie has chosen to do dance again with the addition of a Tap class. She also voiced an interest in piano, so if the scheduling works out, we may do that too. Jackson requested to be in soccer but we just feel he needs to learn how to swim a bit better and will be enrolling him in swim lessons this fall with the possibility of soccer in the spring. And of course we have our Wednesday Night Church activities that they love to go to as well.
All in all it doesn’t sound too busy but I am sure there will be crazy days in our schedules this school year. We just feel so blessed to have two wonderfully bright and active kids.
