And The Wheels Are Off

Jackson could have gone straight from the Stryder bike to a pedal bike last fall, except he saw the training wheels in the garage and asked for them to be put on. Which worked well because with no other peddle experience, he needed to gain some confidence in using them, especially the breaks. And then winter and spring happened and the beginning of summer got away from us so the trainers stayed around longer than expected. Since he had picked up the Stryder at 15 months old, I just assumed that he would be on a peddle bike much sooner than Ellie but after looking at our records he only beat her to the freedom of the road by 1 day. But it is fun to see him out there peddling those little legs to get his Rocket Bike speeding even faster down the hill.

He did exceptionally well, but then again he has been doing it since he was 1. Since then he has had a few spills but no scraped knees yet. I do make sure that he has his helmet on and I stocked up on bandages of all sizes just in case. Next thing you know he will be building some sweet jumps to take off on. You can see his great sense of accomplishment and I have a feeling a small dirt bike may be in his future.

Where It All Began:

This video is from January 2016 when he was only 1 and a half years old.

This was 9 months after with only being on the Stryder for a year.
