It’s the first day of school and Ellie has finally started to sleep in until after 7, just in time to have to get her up and going again. I am happy to report that we made it through our first summer break and “I’m board” was not uttered once. There were a few “can we have friends come over today” and “can we watch cartoons” — both of which we did indulge in over the summer months. We also made sure to read and play math games a little in hopes to retain a bit of her Kindergarten lessons.

She was pretty excited to find out that her new teacher, Mrs. Larson, likes a lot of the same things that she does. The color blue, pizza, camping and the Green Bay Packers were just a few. We didn’t have as much prep as last year but we have been reminding her where to get dropped off and picked up and that she doesn’t have much time for lunch and should choose to eat instead of visit with her friends. Pretty certain we may never win that battle.

Ellie is looking forward to first grade and is excited to be with her friends again. There has already been a few “Where’s Ellie?” coming from Jackson. And with Ellie back in class, there is no one here to help me regulate the marker usage at the kiddo desk.
