Halloween 2015

This year’s costume idea was inspired by our trip to the Butterfly Conservatory in Scottsdale, Arizona earlier this year. Ellie was pretty precise on being, not just any butterfly, but a Monarch Butterfly, which meant that Jackson would be a caterpillar.

Ellie’s costume was pretty simple to pull together. All she needed was a nice set of Monarch wings, the biggest that Auntie Sherri could find, a new pair of black leggings and a shirt. We were able to make her antenna from something crazy found in the floral department.

Jackson’s costume, on the other hand, needed to be created from scratch. I was lucky that Ellie still had her giant stuffed caterpillar which worked as a perfect template for the bottom half of the body. The top half was fashioned after a onsie type of shirt and somehow I was able to get them to work together. Sew in some extra legs and fashion a hat with his antenna, and wallah — you have one cute caterpillar costume for a 15 month old.

The best part is watching them float and waddle down the street.

Pumpkin Carving At Its Best

It is always fun to see what kind of pumpkins we come up with when we get together to carve with the Bakers. Anymore we know what to expect from the night which is the kids off playing while the adults carve the pumpkins. It is still a fun tradition that we all look forward to every year.
