Sew Surprised!
For a little over a year now, I have had the chance to get to know a few different ladies that share the same love for sewing. I met all of them at Club Sew (yes, a club for sewing) and most of them were at the quilt retreat (yes, a retreat for sewing) I went to last May. In the short time since I’ve met them they have taught me so many sewing tips and techniques and it has been nice to have a place to show the items that I sew (yes, show and tell for sewing).
So it wasn’t unusual to get an email from one of them with an invite to a sew over at her house on a Saturday evening – we’re crazy and usually sew until midnight or so. I had offered to bring a sickly sweet desert but was kindly replied to that everything was taken care of and I just needed to bring myself. I didn’t think anything of it until I walked into her beautiful home only to see pink and blue streamers, “because it’s not a party with out streamers”, Gaila said.
I just have to say that theses ladies that I sew with are nothing but fantastic and know how to make someone feel so special. What seemed like a usual gathering to sew together was in fact a surprise baby shower and dinner to help celebrate and welcome our next child. And since they all sew too, I was gifted some of the cutest hand sewn gifts I’ve ever seen. I could not say thank you enough and greatly anticipate sewing many miles with all of these ladies.

Group Picture Fun
And as a fan of photos I greatly appreciate that there is always someone that is sure to bring their camera to capture a few memories. This shoot included a few silly group shots. I had to draw the line at the cheerleader pyramid, not because I was afraid of falling, but because my belly hurt from laughing so much I didn’t think I could climb to the top.
And then of course there is Tammy’s mother Alice who I just love to sit and visit with. She reminds me of my grandmother’s in their younger years — spunky and full of life, without a care in the world. As a mother of twins, I love to get caught up in her pregnancy and mothering stories just as if I was visiting with my Grandma Ardy. She also used to run an upholstery shop and even though I have yet to sew with her (for some odd reason, she never sews when we are together) I often feel like I am sewing with my Grandma Myrna.
