Lefse Traditions 2012
It’s that time of year again! And since many of us decided to hunt during the entire month of October we’ve followed the ND crowd and decided to make our batches of lefse in November. It was decided by the lefse planning department that it was time to visit Dick and Doreen’s house for this grand event, but when invited to host such a gathering all we got were laughs in response — so back to Dusty and Kate’s house for a second dusting there.
We made three batches last year, which didn’t quite seem like enough, so we went ahead and just did another so we could have extras – who doesn’t want more lefse? I am sure that is what one would assume to happen when you start multiplying the ingredients. Not certain if it was the size of our lefse balls or our guests who kept eating the cooked lefse, but our final count of 24 was only a few dozen more that the 18 we had last year. Either way, they all tasted delicious and we are becoming master flipper-offers.
This year we did have the first multi-location & generation lefse day as it turned out that Darcy was making lefse in North Dakota and Ann was busy rolling down in Arizona with Auntie Carol and Uncle Raymond (THE master flipper offer). It was also fun to see grandmas passing on the tradition to their grandchildren and helping them with the rolling and flour tossing.
