Lefse Weekend 2010
Well we did it! Together with Kate, Jessica, Doreen, Brandy, Courtnei and the rest of the crew we were able to produce 18 dozen of lefse out of 3 batches again this year, even without master lefse rollers Darcy or Lori (we only had to call Darcy 2 times). Come to find out, Jessica took to rolling lefse like a duck to water and was rolling out beautiful 14 inch rounds without any flaws. She even went the whole day using the same pastry cloth on her board. Now we know who received the best of Grandma Myrna’s genes. The rest of us did alright, with more flour, but don’t be surprised if you get an oddly shaped lefse in your dozen.
This year we thought to start a tradition in sharing memories of Myrna and the best one shared was a memory of Doreen’s. When Dusty was a little boy, perhaps around one year old, for some reason Grandma Myrna’s finger was in his mouth and Dusty bit down on her finger. She then promptly withdrew her finger and slapped him on the mouth which surprised Doreen. Myrna’s response was “Well he shouldn’t have bit my finger”, and Doreen thought that maybe her finger shouldn’t have been in there in the first place.
Here are a few of the pictures from our wonderful weekend of fellowship and memories.
