Our labor and delivery experience was much better than we expected and we now have a great appreciation for hospital staff and nurses.
There was never a minute we didn’t know what was going on or that they weren’t sharing their wealth of info with us. We must have had that “new parent/deer in headlight look”.
We came home on Wednesday and since then have quickly learned how to change diapers and perfected our swaddling techniques. Since she was on the smaller side we are on a strict 3 hour feeding schedule weather she says it is time to eat or not and it is about an hour long process so sleep comes in short increments between feedings or sometimes not at all.
So far Ellie is a very peaceful baby and our house is still surprisingly quite, which we expect to change sometime soon. Kip seems to be indifferent about Ellie as he patiently waits for us to find some time to play with him or take him for a walk, which we have yet to get to. He is often laying by the crib while we feed and was even rewarded with a new bed of his own so he is a bit more comfortable.
It has been five days since Ellie Marie Bickett was born and we don’t have much else to say……we are so exhausted that when we try to speak nothing comes out right. To say the least we are very excited about our little girl and we greatly appreciate everyone’s support and well wishes.
