Twenty-Nine and …

Usually it is said “twenty-nine and holding” but last night we realized that we would be in our 50’s when we will be celebrating our child’s high school graduation ourselves, so this morning I woke with the thought of twenty-nine going on 50. After laying in bed for a few minutes I decided that would be fine and that the next 20 years will be full of so many memories and being twenty-nine isn’t so bad after all.

The fastest way to trim 9 years off is to eat 2 pieces of cake.

We had plans to meet Tim and Mary in Spearfish for lunch today but the weather got the best of our plans again and we had to postpone the lunch date due to bad road conditions. I greatly appreciated the effort of Tim & Mary busting through drifts between Upton and Sundance before deciding to return to Upton. I would rather them be safe and look forward to enjoying lunch with them again another weekend.

Flowers from the West family.

On Thursday the doorbell rang and I was delivered this beautiful bouquet of flowers. I thought for sure they were from Brian due to my “if I don’t get flowers for Valentine’s day this year I am getting them for myself” threat, so I was very surprised to see that they were from my sister, Cory and the kids. I immediately fell in love with the colors in the arrangement and took a picture for future reference.

Brain handed me a card with a very thoughtful hand written message inside and I loved every word. Earlier this morning I had remembered that he was the first to call me on my 22nd birthday when I was in Pheonix and sang happy birthday at 5 o’clock in the morning on my voice mail and this was when I didn’t even like him. Sure glad I came to my senses. Anymore it is difficult to know what to get the other for gifts, so with the card he offered to schedule me another massage, which I think is great!

Earlier last week I decided that I wanted to order myself a red velvet cake with white frosting so I stopped at a local cake store displaying 5 tiered wedding cakes in the window and did just that. I had a tiny sliver with breakfast, then another piece for lunch and it is about time for another piece. Being twenty-nine is going to be great!
