Cleveland Ohio

One of the perks while Brian was traveling so much was that Nicole had the option of visiting him for the weekend where ever he was working the previous and following week, provided it was someplace of interest, like Cleveland and not so much like Elko.

This was the second time that Nicole was able to visit Brian in Cleveland. During the first trip we traveled on the tram at night, walked to the Rock and Roll Museum, ate at the Braza Grill and took in the Improv.

This time Nicole did her research and discovered that the house that was filmed in The Christmas Story (“You’ll shoot your eye out”) was located in Cleveland and had just been restored to it’s original film debut and opened as a museum a couple years prior.

We learned so many things about the movie. Cleveland was chosen for the film spot because of the huge department store downtown, Higbees, which had to leave their Christmas displays up well into the following year. Later that night we joined his co-workers and ate at the Hard Rock Cafe in downtown Cleveland.

Prior to leaving Rapid, Brian suggested going to a pro basketball game, so the tickets were booked and we were able to see the Cleveland Cavaliers play. Earlier that day Nicole made sure to pick up her LeBron James jersey so they didn’t completely stand out in the crowd. Our seats were pretty high but it didn’t matter because we were at our first professional basketball game and we really just wanted to take in the experience.

After filling up on cotton candy and beer, we were satisfied.

Cleveland Rocks — It was pretty cool to walk in the same downtown that Spiderman was filmed in and see the house from the Christmas Story — You’ll shoot your eye out!
