Info about the I Do’s

ABOUT NICOLE

Nicole was born in Bismarck, North Dakota in 1981. Her parents, Doug Evenson & Nancy Evenson, moved to Gillette, Wyoming shortly after, where she grew up and graduated from CCHS in 1999. She went on to college at Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming and then on to Collins College in Tempe, Arizona where she obtained her BA degree in Graphic Design. Currently she has a great job as a Marketing Director for Collins Communications and just bought a house in Gillette. Oh, and she has a playful dog named Kipper who keeps her entertained and a few other things that she loves includes…Mexican food, warm weather and riding her motorcycle in warm weather to eat Mexican food.

ABOUT BRIAN

Coincidentally, Brian was also born in North Dakota in Dickinson. His parents, Tim & Mary Bickett, settled down in Upton, Wyoming when he was four and have been there ever since. Brian graduated from Upton High and went after his Mechanical Engineering Degree at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City. From there he took a job with International in Indiana but decided to move closer to his family three years later and took a job at a mine south of Gillette. Last spring he took a consulting job with a company out of Reno, Nevada and travels to and from work each week. He also favors warmer weather, owns three motorcycles; one that he built from the ground up and another in the process, and would ride everyday if he could, and he likes Kip too….sort of.

HOW WE MET

Brain and Nicole met one hot summer night in July-ish at Jake’s Tavern in Gillette back when it was a small hoppin’ bar the summer before Nicole went back to school in Arizona. Billy Sargent introduced them that night, but nothing really came of it. They hung out a little bit but by the time the summer was over it was too late to start anything. Nicole left and Brian followed on vacation to the Grand Canyon. He invited her up to hang out and see the sites with him on his motorcycle, but communications were lost after that. Nicole returned home after she graduated. They didn’t start dating until the ball dropped on 2004 and have been inseparable ever since.

WHEN WE GOT ENGAGED

November 12, 2005

HOW IT HAPPENED

It was just another weekend trip to Rapid. They were Christmas shopping and Brian reserved a room in Keystone for the night, something he has done before so it wasn’t out of the ordinary. They went out to dinner at the Alpine Inn in Hill City (the best steak dinner ever) and then back to the hotel to relax. After a dip in the pool and hot tub they went back to their room where Brian told Nicole how happy he was and then got down on one knee and asked the question. She never saw it coming and the first thing out of her mouth was “Are you serious? You’d better not be kidding me!”, but she finally said yes. They continued shopping and picked out a ring the next day.

WHAT TO DO IN THE AREA

The Black Hills Region covers a large area in the western part of South Dakota and has many state parks and natural wonders. The world famous Mount Rushmore of Keystone is located in the Black Hills and the town of Deadwood is a genuine remnant of the Wild West.

We enjoy taking in the beauty of the hills while riding on two wheels on any of the numerous winding highways and byways, so bring your motorcycles, four-wheelers, fishin’ poles and camping stuff; not to mention your gambling luck and quarters.
